Biography
Nathan Kakazu joined Sharp Law as an associate in 2023. Previously, he clerked for the Honorable Daniel D. Crabtree in the United States District Court for the District of Kansas. There, he helped draft opinions and assisted Judge Crabtree in preparing for hearings. He then joined a mid-size law firm litigating primarily ERISA disputes in federal courts nationwide. This experience led him to participate in all phases of litigation from drafting pleadings, engaging in discovery, and writing briefs—including two successful appeal briefs.
Since joining the firm, his practice spans a wide spectrum of cases. He has advocated for sexual abuse survivors, litigated prison conditions cases, and represented small businesses and consumers in actions against big corporations. He has engaged in all phases of litigation, including drafting briefs, reviewing and contesting discovery responses, taking depositions and presenting oral argument.
Nathan Kakazu graduated from KU Law in 2017. He was runner-up in the in-house moot court competition and served as Publication Editor for the Kansas Journal of Law and Public Policy. He received his undergraduate degree from Grinnell College and served as a captain for the cross country and track teams in his senior year.
